Kojima wants a PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Hideo Kojima says releasing the game on PC is "something that I would like to do."

Right now, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is confirmed only for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. But series creator Hideo Kojima would like to see the game come to the PC as well, he told GameSpot in a new one-on-one interview in Japan.

"PC, that's my original background. I originally created PC games," Kojima said. "A long time ago I didn't want to rely on platforms to release games, so if people want it, I cannot make a formal announcement, but that is definitely something that I would like to do."

Predecessor Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots did not come to the PC, though the 2013 spin-off Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance did, albeit 11 months after the game was originally released on consoles. The Phantom Pain prologue Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, which launches March 18, is not announced for the PC.

I hope this becomes a reality. This is one of the few game series I haven't played but want to get into; yet don't want to fork out for a playstation for.

I remember when MGS V: Ground zeros was first announced, that it was stated that this game was going to be on PC, that the game was built for PC running on a PC engine close to the cryengine, There where even pre orders for the PC version at the time, So this is a crock of BS. Dev's either can't think or didn't stop to think of an issue that is caused by console to pc porting, if a game is going to release to pc, it needs to be done on pc first because the pc has the ability to adjust graphic levels, meaning you can now port the game to console by adjusting the graphics to what the system can handle with a few added tweaks. The next gen consoles use pc architecture so wtf?

@lonesamurai1 If it's actually true 1080p it's usually ok enough for me.

On the other hand, any less than that is not really acceptable on PC. For example, I played CoD ghosts PC version recently for a few hours before I uninstalled it because of ugly graphics, and the game not being fun enough for me to live with that. Despite what settings and resolution I increased or reduced, the world still looked like 720p with only menus, fonts etc looking better. God knows what they did there, but it was grainy, upscaled and just shitty looking. (and no, its not my hardware or old drivers - all other games I have runs just fine and look alot better.. gtx 570 1.5gb vram, i7, 16gb ram).

It's kinda funny how many japanese devs keep saying "id love to do this or that". It sounds like they need to ask for permission to do anything, even if they are the actual bosses. Or, their polite nature doesn't allow them to just skip the whole "i must promise something, even if it's not a promise".

Dont get me wrong, I love his games, and have nothing against japanese devs. They do this alot tho, and it's freaking annoying with the "we now annnounce that we will announce a promise sometime later this year". Sony does it. SE does it, Hideo does it, and pretty much the whole other lot. does it.

Go for it.......Release the PC ver.

It is really impressive thought that game releases should NOT be limited to specific platform. Game releases should be made for All platform no matter what, in order to increase the popularity of the game.

It seems like a few Japanese developers are releasing ports of their games on steam in the West. PC may not be big in Japan, but it's fairly big here and it's the easiest platform to port to IMO because you don't need a special dev kit. You can program and run the game on the same PC to see if it your code is working. A lot of the Resident Evil games are on Steam already. The sad thing is these games probably won't see a release in Japan on PC?

I'm not even sure I'll get it for the console. Let alone a PC port. I don't think it's fair to pay for such a pricey demo, even if it's the best ever made

You'll need a petition like the GTA 5 one. Though the difference is I'm sure Kojima will listen to it-- unlike the complete fucktards at Rockstar (I suppose they're too busy swimming in money).

Kojima never stops talking out of his ass does he? "AAA games are dying", "This game is to long" (*cough*Skyrim*cough) "Consoles are dying". I swear this guy just likes talking about shit he doesn't even know about.

<< LINK REMOVED >> And you're qualified to discredit him? He's probably seen evidence of it. What YOU'RE doing is called talking out of your ass. Not him. He said AAA games are dying in Japan because of the increase in popularity of mobile games, he might be right, whose to say he isn't? Who cares about Skyrim and its length? And Consoles are probably dying the more affordable PC's become. Steam is gonna give them a run for their money, anyway.

MGS 1-5 collection with HD remakes of 1-4. If they did this and put it on STEAM and included MGS 5 into the collection, it would kick arse and sell heaps.
