Following the announcement of Hideo Kojima's new game, Death Stranding, earlier this week, developer Kojima Productions has now shared more details.

Across a series of tweets today, the developer revealed new information about the story and told fans they should not expect it to arrive anytime soon. The teaser was made over the course of two and a half months, and was produced in partnership with Hollywood veteran Kyle Cooper, who has worked on movies such as Braveheart, Iron-Man, and Fast & Furious.

Now Playing: Death Stranding Announced at E3 2016

Death Stranding apparently will tell a story, or at least have themes around, the evolution of humankind. Kojima Productions also says Death Stranding aims to go beyond the traditional "action" and "RPG" markets and intends to be a completely new genre. All of the tweets follow below.

Death Stranding, which will launch for console exclusively on PS4 but is also coming to PC, stars The Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus. He previously worked with Kojima on Konami's Silent Hills project, which ultimately was abandoned by the publisher during a fallout between Kojima and his ex-employer.

Kojima has already claimed that he wanted his next project to be "edgy" and if the E3 2016 trailer is any indication, he will deliver on that ambition. The video clip opens with Reedus's character attached to a baby via an umbilical cord, both naked and standing on a beach that is blanketed with dead fish and whales.
