Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, GoldenEye 007 dated

Nintendo dates upcoming Wii and DS titles as pink puffball's latest lands October 17, Donkey Kong Returns November 17, Bond sneaks out November 16, and Wii Party debuts October 3.

Although Nintendo is remaining very tight lipped about its upcoming portable system, the 3DS, today the Japanese game maker let loose details on its upcoming holiday software release schedule.

Kirby + knitting = epic yarn.
Kirby + knitting = epic yarn.

Wii Party is among the earliest new release dates announced, arriving in stores October 3. It will be the first new Nintendo-published minigame collection for the Wii since 2007's Mario Party 8 and will feature 70 different minigames across 13 distinct modes.

On October 17, Kirby's Epic Yarn will see the Nintendo mascot return in a new 2D platformer with an arts-and-crafts aesthetic. In the game, Kirby and the rest of his world is represented in yarn, felt, beads, and other common materials to give the game a distinct look. As for gameplay, Kirby will wield a yarn whip that can be used to interact with the environment, tugging at seems to unstitch the background and reveal new paths or secure platforms to one another.

A remake of the Rare-developed seminal Nintendo 64 first-person shooter, GoldenEye 007 will include online multiplayer and 16 game modes when it launches November 16. Although the Pierce Brosnan version of James Bond has been replaced by Daniel Craig for the remake, it does still boast a roster including eight characters from the revered Bond classic, as well as 40 other unnamed virtual soldiers.

Last but not least among the season's Wii and DS launches will be Donkey Kong Country Returns on November 21. Another follow-up to a Rare-developed title, Donkey Kong Country Returns is being developed by Retro Studios, the outfit behind the Metroid Prime series. The 2D platformer sees Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong return to action with many of the DKC series' familiar trappings, from mine cart racing to being shot out of barrels.

Despite that these are the American release dates, I can proudly say that I'm so effing hyped about Kirby's Epic Yarn and GoldenEye. I would also gladly buy Donkey Kong Country, Metroid: Other M and Wii Party (after reading GameSpot's review). After the awesomeness of Super Mario Galaxy 2, Monster Hunter Tri and Tatsunoko vs Capcom this year, Nintendo's year can't go wrong. It's the perfect year for them. Here's to hoping that Kirby will crush Black Ops and Reach under a giant yarn-made boot. *drinks*

Conduit 2, Goldeneye, Donkey Kong Country, Cod Black Ops, Zelda, Mario Sports Mix, New Super Mario Bros, NBA Jam, Metroid - Damn check out all these beast games coming out for Wii. Atleast it's something new and refreshing unlike ps3 and xbox who give you the same crap (halo, killzone, etc) I've got $250 on me and it looks like Nintendo might just get all my $$ lol.

Goldeneye is coming out on my birthday... My one wish this year is for it to not suck.

Truly, I don't care about this lineup. If I don't see the words "Zelda" or "3DS", then I have no desire to buy. Kirby's Epic Yarn and Metroid: Other M sound like nice eventual purchases, but nothing I'm going to jump on over to Walmart for at midnight. Give the people what they want, Ninty.

I've played my Wii this year so much. It won't change this fall. Awesome line-up Nintendo. I want 6 games from that list. Can't believe Donkey Kong Country is returning or Kirby. When their both in my system, I will believe it. And I've heard nothing but good things about Wii Party and it's still number 1 in Japan this week. Metroid coming soon!! :)

I need a Wii back in my bedroom... DK and Metroid Other M are enough to justify why it is a must to get one back!! Yep, and in this ocassion it will be black!

Pokepark Wii Pikachus Adventure is already out here in UK.

@fon1988 LOL. I agree. It's been years since I've played a new Donkey Kong and Virtual Console introduced me to Kirby so I'm happy about these.

August - Metroid, October - Kirby, November - Goldeneye and Donkey Kong...holy crap, Nintendo is about to get a lot of my money...

What?! that's freaking insane. I wouldn't be surprised if epic came out oct. 17, 2011. Now, i'm super excited for it.

Nintendo has a knack for taking stuff like this and making it work really well (think Super Mario Galaxy)

Avatar image for Xplode_77

I wish I had a Nintendo Wii, maybe I'll ask one of many of my friends for their Wii that they never ever had played after their 360

Pretty great holiday lineup for nintendo. Everyone else... not so much?

I loved hearing about Kirby and Donkey Kong but why is Professor Layton and the Unwound Future coming out September 12th! It's too soon! Give me more time!

Avatar image for Yajarobi

DK and Kirby, score. Kirby looks so epicly cute and fluffy

Avatar image for fkbwii

In the headline it says DK Returns is comin' out on Nov. 17 and in the article it says the 21st. I guess it's the 21st.

Paper Mario was great on GB.. Curious to see: Kirby's Epic Yarn--October 17

Avatar image for derekis007

So this is why Nintendo's been hiding in the shadows for the last year. Metroid other M, Legend of zelda Skyward sword, Kirby epic yarn, Mario sports mix, Donkey Kong Country Return, Goldeneye Wii.....oohhhhhhhh bless you Nintendo!

Avatar image for derekis007

I'll definitly look into Goldeneye Wii and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Mario Sports Mix actually looks kinda cool. It has basketball and doogeball which looks pretty intresting. I'm still hoping for Mario Paint Ball or Mario's Wild West Shoot Out, or ANYTHING with Mario holding a gun :D

No 3DS news? Maybe they'll reveal something at the fall nintendo conference.

Avatar image for Dualmask

So many more great games to add to my Wii collection this fall... gonna be hard to pick and choose what to play first.

Avatar image for Beastcake

Looks like sales will be divided between Donkey Kong and Bond in that week in November. Should have spread out the lineup more though; by March, everything that was interesting would have come out and we'll expect another Wii-game drought until E3.

Avatar image for DesertLynx83

Wow, I'm going to have no free time OR money! It's about time!

Avatar image for FunRat

I have been losing interest in my Wii, but it looks like Q4 will drive me back to it!

Avatar image for King-gamer

Some really unexpected release dates... Some of these game just announced recently too.

My wii is getting a proper workout in q4 by the looks of things.

Avatar image for GameBeaten

Toooo many good games to get. And I mean across every console and handheld.

Avatar image for DrEvilKoala

I'm glad Nintendo is finally back :)

Avatar image for triple_punse

nintendo have a much better lineup then usual

Avatar image for wiidsduelpack

THe only problem I have with DKCR is that it might be too casual. Metroid Prime 3 corruption was too balanced between casuals and hardcore and look what happened. A good game that good a review score of 8.5 from GS. It really deserved it. / The previous DKC games had average difficulty and my fear is that it might be too easy. Anyone remember Zelda: TP or Super Mario Galaxy, extremely easier than usual. Motion control make games easier.

Avatar image for dRuGGeRnaUt

A Rare-less Golden Eye, as well as Donkey Kong? hmm.. have to wait and see...

Avatar image for singhellotaku

so you're releasing these 3 games the same week as Black OPs? what are you stupid? I wouldnt mind buying all 3 but I only have so much money nintendo

Avatar image for brandon--16

If another Carnival Games comes out after this one, I'll kill myself. EEK! I'm so excited for DKR and Kirby though! :D

Avatar image for almossbb

wow so many good games. so far im gonna get metroid other m, kirby, DKC, and maybe golden eye for sure. also have a lot fo ps3 games to get, so im gonna have trouble catching up, i hope this gen lasts for a really long time so i have time to catch up.

Avatar image for Pete5506

Avatar image for COPMAN221

Avatar image for Xplode_77

@XTy That does'nt sound right at all lol!!!

Avatar image for BloodMist

Lots of Nintendo platform gaming goodness is on the way, oh yes.Except Wii Party, of course.

Avatar image for Xplode_77

A few things. change the name of epic mickey (it just does'nt sound right) change the name of Kirby Epic Yarn (still does'nt sound right) change the name of Donkey Kong Country Returns into Donkey Kong Country These games are going to be FREAKING BEAST!!!

At E3 when the Goldeneye trailer started I wet myself. And then I vasked in the glory of what would eventually be mine, and immeditely started counting the moments until I could play it. And then as the trailer was closing.. there it was... the bane of every potentialy good game... The activision logo appeared and it was announced that they would be developing the game. Well James Bond gave it a hell of a run, but this game will be ruined by Kotick, along with many memories. Go Nintendo though, always has and always will be the best.
