The September Nintendo Direct revealed that a new Kirby game, titled Kirby And The Forgotten City, is coming to Switch in Spring 2022. The game had leaked prior to the Direct, alongside several other Nintendo announcements.

The new game is a 3D action platformer in which Kirby can freely explore a city using his familiar assortment of moves. Though the setting features the bright color palate as previous Kirby games, the tone of the setting is a bit darker. The trailer for The Forgotten City features mysteriously abandoned structures, apparently from a past civilization.

Further details on gameplay were not revealed during the Direct, but you can watch the reveal trailer above to get a sense for what to expect. We should be hearing more before long, given the spring launch window.

This wasn't the only bit of Kirby news during the direct, as Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards will be among the games available in the N64-centric expansion of the Nintendo Switch Online service.

Alongside Kirby, Bayonetta 3's release window also leaked prior to the Nintendo Direct. And, just like the new Kirby game, Bayonetta 3 was featured during the Nintendo Direct.
