Kirby & the Amazing Mirror E3 2004 Preshow Impressions

The next Kirby game for the Game Boy Advance will send Kirby on what might be his strangest journey yet. Get the first details here.

Kirby, who's one of Nintendo's lesser-known but definitely pinkest and cutest mascot, will soon be returning in a brand-new adventure for the Game Boy Advance. The Amazing Mirror sounds like it's going to share a lot of the whimsically surreal characteristics of previous Kirby offerings, as this one takes place in the Kingdom of Mirrors and pits Kirby--four different-colored versions of Kirby, to be precise--against a shadowy opponent who is bent to do him and the Kingdom harm.

Previously, Kirby's main method of attack was his big, honking mouth, by means of which he could inhale most any opponent and then gain that opponent's unique characteristics. But, as mentioned, now Kirby will have help from several other alternate Kirbies, who he will be able to contact--get this--by cell phone. Presumably this will open up new possibilities for both action and puzzle-solving. Nintendo promises that, among other new abilities, Kirby will have access to many of his powerful moves from the popular Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GameCube.

We hope to get a first-hand look at the game as soon as possible, and we'll bring you additional details at that time.
