Aspyr will convert and publish the PC version of Activision's surfing game.

Austin-based publisher Aspyr Media has announced that it will publish the PC and Mac versions of Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer. Aspyr is new to publishing PC games--its first PC release will be a conversion of Midway's Spy Hunter that's due out next month--but it claims about 50 percent of Mac retail game sales and has long-standing relationships with publishers like Activision and EA.

Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer was released last fall for the PS2, Xbox, and GameCube and received high marks for its gameplay, which is based on a Tony Hawk-like trick system. In the game, players can choose to surf as six-time world champion Kelly Slater or one of eight other pro surfers. Players have to complete different types of challenges in 30 missions that take place in 15 of the most popular surf spots around the globe.

The PC and Mac versions of Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer are in development at Beenox and are scheduled for release later this year.
