Keiji Inafune's Yaiba will be Ninja Gaiden spin-off
Game to be subtitled Ninja Gaiden Z and developed by Comcept, Team Ninja and Sparks Unlimited.
Keiji Inafune today revealed more details about his previously-teased Yaiba project. The announcement came during a Tecmo Koei media event held ahead of tomorrow's Tokyo Game Show start.
The full name of the game was revealed to be Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, with Tecmo Koei serving as the game's publisher. The title will be a joint venture between Inafune's company, Comcept, Team Ninja, and western game developer Spark Unlimited (Lost Planet 3, Legendary).
In the spin-off, the main character, Yaiba, is tasked with killing Ninja Gaiden protagonist Ryu Hayabusa for reasons unknown. The game is believed to combine Inafune's love for ninjas, zombies and samurai.
Development on the game is already underway, but little more is known about its gameplay, story, estimated release window, or shipping platforms. Stay tuned for more details as they come to hand.
