Director Zack Snyder (Army of the Dead, Justice League) and Netflix have shared the full cast and also concept art of the upcoming sci-fi epic Rebel Moon. Production begins this year on the platform-exclusive film, which doesn't yet have a release date.

According to a tweet by Snyder himself, Rebel Moon will star Justice League's Ray Fisher, along with Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi and Sky Yang. Check out the new visuals below.

As previously announced, Rebel Moon's story features a tyrannical lord named Balisarius, who threatens a galactic colony--requiring a young woman to recruit warriors from neighboring planets to fight off the invasion. According to Snyder via an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the film is him wearing his heart on his sleeve "as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan… It's my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out."

Snyder co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. According to Variety, Rebel Moon was first conceived of as a pitch for the Star Wars universe that pre-dated Disney's 2012 acquisition of Lucasfilm. In the decade that followed, Snyder refashioned and developed the idea to potentially kickstart an original franchise.
