Justice League Actor Ray Fisher Calls Out WarnerMedia Over Derek Chauvin Verdict Tweet

Justice League actor Ray Fisher has criticized WarnerMedia over its tweeted response to the Derek Chauvin verdict. Former Minneapolis policeman Chauvin has been found guilty of murdering George Floyd in May 2020.

WarnerMedia released a tweet soon after the verdict was announced yesterday, April 20. It stated that the studio reaffirmed its "commitment to be part of the solution by using our platforms, content, and resources to advance racial equity and social justice."

However, Fisher, who has accused WarnerMedia of enabling racist and abusive behavior during the 2017 reshoots of Justice League, called out the studio for its perceived hypocrisy. He retweeted the original tweet, with an emotional response.

Chauvin was found guilty on three counts--second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter. Floyd was killed on May 25 last year, and his death provoked weeks of protests against police brutality across the US and in other countries.

Fisher's criticism of WarnerMedia dates back to July last year. The Cyborg actor initially accused Joss Whedon, who took over from Zack Snyder on the Justice League reshoots, of abusive behavior towards him and other cast and crew members. He also singled out producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg for enabling it, and more recently has accused executive Walter Hamada of covering up their behavior and interfering with the studio's subsequent investigation.

WarnerMedia has stated that its investigator, Judge Katherine Forrest, found no evidence that Hamada tampered with the investigation, and that the decision to drastically reduce the amount of screentime Cyborg had in the theatrical version of Justice League was not racially motivated, as Fisher alleged.

Zack Snyder's new version of Justice League was released by HBO Max last month, with Fisher playing a far more prominent role. However, Cyborg won't be seen in the upcoming movie The Flash, which started production this week. Fisher was originally set to appear in the film, but he has since been written out.
