Square Enix has released Final Fantasy VI, one of the most beloved entries in the long-running JRPG series, for Android devices.

The game is out now on the Google Play Store now, priced £10.99/€14.49. The game is compatible with Android 3.2, but it's recommended you run the game on a version of Android higher than 4.0.

One player on Reddit has chronicled their experience with the game, including the game's redesigned mobile controls and features, and also spotted a particularly jarring typo for longtime fans in the game's opening scene. Espier?

Final Fantasy VI, first released on the SNES in 1994, has received a visual makeover of sorts for this new mobile version. The sprites for the main characters have all been smoothed out and recoloured, and the new visual style is almost certain to prove divisive for the game's fans.

What do you make of it?
