Now Playing: Why PlayStation Is Skipping E3 2019 - GS News Update

E3 2019 was somewhat of a weird time for PlayStation fans, as Sony was a no-show at this year's conference. Plenty of PS4 games were still there for fans to see or play, of course, but Sony's first-party stuff wasn't out in full force. Luckily, Sony does still have something for PlayStation 4 owners--and prospective owners--to get excited about in June: its annual Days of Play sale, which has been live all week and continues through the weekend.

Days of Play deals will still be available until this coming Monday, June 17 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET. While the sale is still live, you can snag a PS4 Pro for $350 / £350, and all DualShock 4 wireless controllers will start at $40 / £35. A limited-edition PS4 is also on sale, but unfortunately, it's not a PS4 Pro. The steel black console features the four PlayStation shapes embossed in silver on the top and comes with a matching DualShock 4 controller. You can buy it for $300 / £280.

If you're considering taking the plunge and getting PlayStation VR, some bundles are considerably cheaper during the 11-day sale. PSVR bundles start at $250, a full $100 cheaper than their usual price. The bundles each come with a pair of games, such as Trover Saves the Universe and Five Nights at Freddy's; Borderlands 2 and Beat Saber; or Everybody's Golf and Blood & Truth. In the UK, the PSVR Starter Pack is selling for £180 and PSVR Mega Pack will sell for £210.

This is a great time to stock up on your PS Plus membership as well, as it's currently significantly cheaper at multiple retailers (plus, June has a very nice lineup of free games to take advantage of). The cheapest option is currently at Green Man Gaming, where you can get a year-long subscription for just $37.59. Elsewhere, the 12-month membership is available for $40. In addition, you can grab a 12-month PS Now subscription for $70. As a reminder, you can stack subscriptions, even if you're already a member.

A huge selection of games are marked down across multiple retailers right now. PS4 exclusives God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man are both down to $20 / £25, while Resident Evil 2 can be snagged for $36. Recent release Days Gone is available for $40 / £40. Older hits, such as Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition, The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4, and Bloodborne, are on sale for just $10 / £12.

See all the most notable deals from the Days of Play sale below; plus, check out our full list of the best E3 2019 gaming deals that are still available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Spent $27.97 for Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, Detroit: Become Human, and Ratchet and Clank.

First sale I’ve spent money on in 3 years. I’d say I got my money’s worth.

Their sale in Ireland is an absolute joke.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition 30 euros in Ireland vs 10 dollars in US.

The list goes on I mean 14.99 is what the 10 dollars games cost in Ireland.

A lot of the games are 3 times the price.

Just shows that Sony couldn't give a fiddler's about gamers in Ireland and the UK and the EU.

@quinnd6: Does it have anything to do with that stupid VAT you guys have to pay, or that added onto the prices you’ve quoted?

@jsprunk: No it's Sony trying to screw us. Triple the price is not VAT.

We don't have 300% VAT.

I've written about this on Sony's EU blog anyway and there are numerous complaints there on their EU blog.

Sony just ignore them.

They don't care.

I won't be buying anything on their crappy sale and it puts me off buying their future consoles. Too much of a ripoff over here where I am.

Seriously, these prices on the PS4's "reason to buy one" are unreal for the content.

Must-haves:

GoW

Bloodborne

Nioh

Horizon ZD

TLoU

$300 for a brand-new system and you're under $400 incl tax for hundreds of hours of GOTY gaming. These SP exclusives are the only things I play on mine, and it's absolutely worth the small investment.

Lets face it PSN has huge sales 24/7 these days! As a console and PC gamer I can honestly say the sales are far more frequent and better than Steam now! Don’t believe me? Check both stores sales once a week

@shuttle_cock: PSN sales are getting better, sure - but PC prices are far below console digital prices. Physical is even cheaper if you're buying used.

So far, I'm not impressed by PSN's digital sales. Spiderman I got for $23 physical, used a month and a half ago. Maybe if it were $12-$15 digital, I would have been tempted (a month and a half ago). But I'd much rather pay an extra $3 for a disc with guarantee of zero lock out, ever.

FWIW - Sony locked me out of my account once by "accident" in their system. The rep admitted the wrong account got flagged, but I had to wait 2 weeks before their system would allow them to undo it. 2 weeks without a chunk of my library. No thanks. Never digital, never again. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone.

Besides, I can resell my copy of Spiderman if I wish. Can't do that digital!

@CyberEarth: ....bbbbuuuuut.... You just heavily endorsed Steam in the same breath. Which has ALWAYS been digital...

So really what you're saying is, "never PSN digital when disc is an option." ...and I agree. Used PS discs are crazy-cheap and a great value. It's the only system where I still buy physical media, other than select films on 4K BluRay.

@Pyrosa: ...I didn't mention Steam. I said PC prices are far below console digital. And nobody on PC is really making physical anymore, so it's not really an option.

PC is more than just Steam - that encompasses DRM-free places as well.

Tiz the season to dump those old gen games, before we catch wind of the new gen graphics and stop buying older stuff altogether.

Waiting for the chance to get Spiderman at < 20$.

It's not much my kind of game but from what I've heard it's Amazing and well done!

I might find it fun and nice and it might be worth 20 bucks for the "experience".

Sales are getting better and better. Obviously they're trying to get as many purchases before the new consoles are announced and people start saving up.
