Just Cause dev teases new game

Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios cofounder Christofer Sundberg has released (via Kotaku) a blurry teaser image believed to be for one of the studio's three unannounced projects. The image (below right) shows off a character riding a motorcycle through a desert scene while kicking an assailant into the dust.

The image may contain a reference to the Just Cause series, as the character's left hand looks to feature the series-famous grappling hook. If this game is indeed the rumored Just Cause 3, it would mark a departure from the first two game's tropical settings, though this image may not be representative of the entire game.

Avalanche has previously confirmed one of its unannounced games--Project Mamba--is in development for next-generation consoles and PC for a launch in 2014.

The studio is headquartered in Sweden and opened a New York City office in November 2011.

Avalanche is best known for its well-regarded open-world action franchise Just Cause, the most recent installment from which launched in March 2010. In September 2011, the company released Renegade Ops, a vehicular dual-stick shooter that received a favorable critical reception.

Yes! That looks like Rico Rodriguez alright! I love the Just Cause series. I recently re-bought JC2 coz its just so great! I've been waiting to hear another one is in development so this is great!

Oh and the article isn't entirely accurate because there is a desert section to the map in Just Cause 2.

I had 100 times more fun in JC2 than Far Cry 3 tbh. The graphics seemed better, ran faster, gameplay and gunplay was more fun... cannot wait for JC3. What's not to love about jumping off a mile high floating brothel and skydiving/parachuting to earth?

@marcel842 Really? Sure, JC2 took some liberties with its sprite trees, but I remember multiple moments in JC2 coming over the brow of a hill and seeing a massive missile silo or rocket launch area and really feeling "WOW"... by comparison FC3 is small and unimpressive while bogging down the framerate often. I'm not saying it's bad, just not as impressive as I expect at this stage.

I hope that they take JC3 more seriously (if it is JC3) than JC2 in terms of story and voice acting. It would also be nice if the location felt alive. As good as JC2 was, Panau just didn't feel alive.

@thequickshooter if you want multiplayer so bad you can try the multiplayer mod on PC, and if you don't own on PC you can buy for cheap. unless your PC isn't up to it.

@thequickshooter Just Cause was frigging AWSESOME, but I disagree about the muliplayer.

Not every game needs it, and that one had so much content/potential for fun that it wasn't missed on my end.
