Just Cause 3 Dev Diary Explores All the Chaotic Fun of Destruction

See what happens when you cut loose in the open-world game.

The latest dev diary for Avalanche Studios' Just Cause 3 takes a closer look at the game's destruction.

The video features members of the development team discussing the tech powering much of the sequel and the unexpected situations that arise from the dynamic nature of its gameplay.

"We’ve been focused purely on the new generation of high-end technology from the very beginning of development,” explained game director Roland Lesterlin. “This huge amount of extra horsepower allows us to do things that simply weren't possible until now."

The Avalanche developers featured in the video make interesting comparisons to games like Uncharted, which provide excellent set-piece moments, but are scripted and controlled. Check out the video below.

Avalanche has also announced it will be attending PAX Prime and hosting a panel with Havok, the developer of Just Cause 3's middleware engine. The panel will be at the Sphinx theatre on August 28 at 3 PM PST.

Just Cause 3 launches on December 1 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. At , its Gamescom 2015 briefing, Microsoft announced purchases of Just Cause 3 on Xbox One will include a free copy of Just Cause 2.
