Jurassic World: Dominion To Resume Production Soon, With Major Safety Protocols

The third Jurassic World movie will be the first major movie to restart filming in the UK.

The third Jurassic World movie was only a few weeks into production when the COVID-19 pandemic led to filming to be suspended in March. However, it has now been reported that the film, titled Jurassic World: Dominion, will resume production next month.

The news comes via Deadline, which states that filming will restart at Pinewood studios in London the week of July 6. It will be the first major production to resume production in the UK since the industry-wide shutdown, and Universal will be enacting extensive safety precautions.

The studio is to ensure that all cast and crew will be tested multiple times before and during production, and only actors appearing in the scenes will be allowed to work without masks. In addition, there will be a private medical facility set up, on-site doctors and nurses, 150 hand sanitizer stations, COVID training for all cast and crew, and 1,800 safety signs. Universal will reportedly spend an additional $5 million on these safety protocols.

A Universal production executive told Deadline, "Anyone with symptoms will be isolated immediately before being sent home. We want to make sure that we are going above and beyond the national protocols to create a safe environment. Cost isn't our main concern now: it's safety. We will take direction from our medical team, but we're confident that with the staggered scheduling and zones of talent and crew, along with a system of contact tracing, we can move forward with limited delay in production."

Jurassic World: Dominion is set to his theaters on July 11, 2021. The movie is directed by Colin Trevorrow, who also helmed 2015's Jurassic World, and stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard once more, with Jake Johnson and Omar Sy rejoining from that first movie. In addition, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum, who starred in 1993’s original Jurassic Park, will be reprising their roles.
