Half-Life from Sierra Studios and Valve Software was number one on PC Data's top-selling software list for the month of July, knocking off MicroProse's Mechwarrior III for top spot.

MicroProse's Roller Coaster Tycoon still was going strong at 2nd place, followed by Starcraft, Sim City 3000, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Gold Edition, Total Annihilation: Kingdoms, Need for Speed 3, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Mechwarrior III, and Monopoly to round out the top ten.
