The latest end-of-the-world movie coming to Netflix has some serious star power. Based on the book of the same name by Rumaan Alam, Leave the World Behind is helmed by Mr. Robot's Sam Esmail and stars Oscar winners Mahershala Ali and Julia Roberts along with Ethan Hawke, Kevin Bacon, Myha'la Herrold, Farrah Mackenzie, and Charlie Evans

"A family's vacation is upended when two strangers arrive at night, seeking refuge from a cyberattack that grows more terrifying by the minute," the official show synopsis reads, "forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world." You can check out the tense trailer below.

The novel was a finalist for the 2020 National Book Award for Fiction with Netflix winning the bidding war for the rights to the novel in July 2020, with Esmail directing and writing the film. Roberts and Denzel Washington were set to star in and produce the film, but after Washington's exit, Ali was cast in the film, replacing him. Roberts is still on board as one of the film's producers.

Leave the World Behind will also continue Netflix's dual-release strategy with theaters and streaming. The movie will be in select theaters on November 22 before eventually streaming on Netflix on December 8.
