The Clown Prince of Crime's new comic arrives in March next year.

Joker is one of the most iconic comic villains ever created, and the huge success of last year's live-action movie shows that his popularity shows no sign of fading. The Clown Prince of Crime is now to get his own ongoing DC comic book.

The book is simply titled The Joker, and it debuts on March 9, 2021. It will be a monthly comic and will be written by James Tynion IV and features art from Guillem March.. The comic is set to focus on Jim Gordon's final attempt to catch the Joker before he retires. But there are other mysterious and dangerous forces who are also hunting the crazed criminal mastermind.

In a statement, Tynion IV said, "When I was approached by DC about the concept of an ongoing series spotlighting The Joker, I thought, 'What would that book even look like?' I'm excited to share this story in a way that honors everything that a series about The Joker can be, while coming at it from an exciting, unexpected angle."

The Joker will also feature a backup story by Tynion IV, co-writer Sam Johns, and artist Mirka Andolfo. This will feature the Joker's new assistant Alexis Kaye--aka Punchline--and is a continuation of the story that Tynion IV, Johns, and Andolfo started in a one-shot release last month.

In related news, Joker is set to return to the screen in Zack Snyder's new version of Justice League, which hits HBO Max next year. This will be the version played by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad, and Leto has reportedly filmed new scenes for the movie.
