Joker 2 Set Video Shows Joaquin Phoenix Being Chased By Two Jokers

2 Joker, 2 Furious.

It looks like Joker 2 is going to get a bit weird with it, as a set video shows the clown prince of crime being chased by two other versions of himself.

We don't technically know all that much about Joker 2, or Joker: Folie à Deux, but a new set video shows Joaquin Phoenix sans-clown outfit being chased by what looks to be two other Jokers. The footage is shot from quite far away so it's a bit difficult to make out, but the Joker running away from the other two is obviously Phoenix, with another version of the character seemingly being a plain-clothes version of him from the first film, possibly wearing the clown mask he also dons. The other Joker more closely resembles his recognisable red suit and make-up, but it isn't clear if the other two Jokers are impersonators, or if this is some kind of dream sequence/ hallucination.

Joker 2 started shooting in December last year, with director Todd Phillips sharing a photo of Phoenix as Arthur Fleck on Instagram to mark the occasion. Last year, it was claimed that this sequel will possibly be a musical, something that still hasn't been confirmed. But the report did note that Lady Gaga was set to portray this film's version of Harley Quinn, her casting being confirmed just a couple of months later.

Last year the DCEU received a big shake-up with the arrival of James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-leaders of DC Studios, which led to the question of how Joker 2 would be treated. It was confirmed to not be in the same universe as the upcoming slate of DC films, and in January it was announced to fall under the Elseworlds umbrella, alongside Matt Reeve's The Batman films. Joker 2 is currently expected to arrive in theaters October 4, 2024.
