Joint Task Force targets factory

Sierra's modern-military real-time-strategy title has gone gold and is set to storm PCs September 5.

Just hours after THQ announced that its WWII real-time strategy game Company of Heroes has gone gold, a rival publisher revealed that its own RTS title is in the can.

This evening, the official Joint Task Force Web site announced that its subject was headed for the factory. "HD Publishing, Sierra and Most Wanted Entertainment are proud to announce that 'Joint Task Force' is GOLD and is ready to launch mid September 2006!!"

Joint Task Force casts players in the role of the head of a modern fighting force sent to eliminate a threat to world safety. However, the mission is the subject of much international scrutiny, so players will have to wage an effective war without alienating public opinion by leaving civilian casualties in their wakes.

JTF is PC-exclusive, rated T for Teen by the ESRB, and will retail for $49.99. For a look at near-final build of the game, check out GameSpot's brand-new hands-on preview.
