John Wick Spin-Off Ballerina Starring Ana De Armas Delayed To Add More Action

Chad Stahelski is coming aboard to help "amp it up even more."

Ballerina, the John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas, has been delayed by a year. Lionsgate has announced that the film is shifting from June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025.

Deadline reported this news and also noted how the delay came as part of a wider John Wick announcement of series architect Chad Stahelski getting a new deal to oversee the series. According to the report, Stahelski is now working with Ballerina director Len Wiseman to create "additional actions sequences" to help "amp it up even more."

Taking Ballerina's original date is Lionsgate's The Crow remake starring Bill Skarsgard in what's described as a "modern reimagining" of the franchise.

Not much is known about Ballerina, but it was recently reported that Keanu Reeves will make a cameo in the film as John Wick.

Beyond Ballerina, Stahelski has said he has ideas for John Wick 5, but this being Hollywood, there is no guarantee that film would ever be made.

"Keanu, if you ask him right now would you do John Wick 5, he'd be like, 'F**k yeah.' But then he'd go, 'Well, what is it? I have no f**king idea,'" Stahelski said. "If I was driving in the car or walking the dog and an idea hit me, within 30 seconds I'd be on the phone to Keanu and we'd be riffing," the director added.

The original plan was to film John Wick 4 and 5 back to back, but Stahelski said he simply didn't have it in him, creatively, to make another one alongside the fourth.

There is also talk of a new John Wick video game. Lionsgate has said it is "continuing to have those conversations" about making a new game. The company believes there is a "ton of energy" around the prospect of making a John Wick video game.

Back in November 2022, Lionsgate said the company believes "there is a big AAA game to be made out of John Wick," and that the company has fielded proposals for it.

Mike Bithell released a John Wick game in 2020 called John Wick Hex. This was a tactics game and a prequel to the John Wick universe in terms of its story. John Wick the character has appeared in Fortnite and Payday 2. A VR game called John Wick Chronicles was released in 2017.
