Joe Danger: The Movie dropping in

Hello Games lifts veil on follow-up to last summer's PSN-exclusive motorcycle stunt game; no platforms or release date announced.

Last June, indie developer Hello Games released motorcycle stunt game Joe Danger on the PlayStation Network to a warm reception. The stuntman survived his first run, but now he's back for more.

Joe Danger: The Movie is in fact not a movie at all.
Joe Danger: The Movie is in fact not a movie at all.

Joe's second outing will be called Joe Danger: The Movie. Hello Games describes the title as "kind of a sequel to Joe Danger, but it's mostly something entirely new."

Joe Danger: The Movie takes place after the events of the original. As Joe, players are discovered by a "mysterious" Hollywood director and are tasked with making their own action film by performing every stunt themselves.

According to a mock poster for Joe Danger: The Movie (above right), it appears the game will have players taking part in a range of activities, including skiing, mine-cart riding, jetpack flying, and more.

The original Joe Danger was released only on the PlayStation Network. And while Hello Games is not talking about platform availability just yet for Joe Danger: The Movie, the poster says the game is coming to consoles and lists "Not Sure" next to "What Platform?" in the credits.

Whatever the case, gamers will have answers soon, as Hello Games has promised "some surprises" for GamesCom, which lands next week in Germany. For more on the original Joe Danger, check out GameSpot's review.

Sounds good. Though I wouldn't complain if there was an actual Joe Danger movie in the works either.

Very nice. I really enjoyed the first title. I hope the second one remains exclusive to PSN. I think it would help pull PSN a little closer to XBLA in terms of game quality. I own both HD systems and want them both to have a strong stable of downloadable exclusives. At any rate, between this and the new Trials HD game, gamers should have no shortage of great side-scrolling racers.

The first was an absolute blast. Really good deal for lots and lots of fun. Hopefully this is as cool!

Looking forward to this one. I really liked the original, and they look to be keeping things fresh with new stuff for this.

First one was pretty fun, but i don't think it sold well. Sony helped them since they were a small studio, and they got in on Sony's small developers program (whatever it was called) and they got to keep the IP to the game, so very nice of Sony; but I'd like to see this game go multiplatform now so that the small developers who worked so hard can make some $$ on it! And exclusive might not be the way to do that. So either way i hope its everywhere! Steam, Live, PSN, heck even on phones!

Phew, I thought some madman had tried to make an ACTUAL movie out of this game! I'm looking forward to JD:2, but a movie would have been a disaster on an epic scale.

I was thinking this would be a film, not a game :P It makes more sense, though, what in the world could they do with the game's premise as a film :P

Joe danger was awesome, but you only need to download the demo cause the demo is pretty big and it saves you 15 bucks
