Joe Danger, No Man's Sky dev's office "totally flooded" after recent storm [UPDATE]

Hello Games says "biblical amount" of water from recent storm results in loss of PCs, monitors, and furniture.

[UPDATE] This morning, Hello Games provided more details about its Christmas Eve office flooding on Twitter, but it remains unclear if any projects are going to be materially affected by the damage.

"Ok so this is a weird Xmas day. Thank you to *everyone* for being lovely and thoughtful in this crappy time - now go enjoy your Christmas. A river broke its bank nearby yesterday, and A LOT of water flooded in really quickly. A biblical amount. It was coming in the windows!

We've lost most things - PCs, monitors, furniture, a door, a wall. You'd think the massive water cooled mega PC would be ok? It was not :( Lots of personal stuff lost (my console collection! my super rare neo geo pocket!) - that line between home and office is a little blurry.

We're taking stock today, but already I know we'll come back stronger :) - all we'll need is a place to work and a machine to work on :)"

The original story is below.

Joe Danger and No Man's Sky developer Hello Games is not having a happy holiday. As a result of the storm that moved through the United Kingdom today, the company's office in Guildford was completely flooded, the developer said on Twitter today.

"Oh god. Water moves really quick. Hello Games has been totally flooded," the studio wrote. "Everything in the office has pretty much been lost :("

"A lifesize cardboard cut out of Joe Danger went floating past face down. Poor Joe. He's taking this the worst," Hello Games added. "Massive thanks to everyone who tried to help here today. We have learned that laptops float sometimes."

"Leaving now and letting firemen to help real people (all the houses around us with kids and xmas) - rather than us drowning to save a hdd :)"

Hello Games, which has fewer than 10 employees, is currently working on the ambitious, procedurally generated game No Man's Sky and Joe Danger Infinity. It is not clear how the office's flooding will affect development on those titles.

We will continue to monitor the story as it develops.

That's awful, but it becomes funny when you think that in the mids of all that chaos the dudes took their time to write updates on twitter. This is very much similar to that sketch from Family Guy with the drowning kids on the sinking bus. From @Jenny94, "Water seriously cold, yo." Here's @theted69, "I'm gonna survive this, lol jk." Jk indeed.

@xeoneex66A lot of people handle stress with comedy -- levity is a great way to just "let it all go." Bravo to them for staying witty about it, and recognizing that their situation is far from the worst of it.

If I had a spare office nearby for them to work out of, I'd certainly let them use it. Promising stuff coming from these guys...

Such a damn shame, and the guy that was showing the game off at the VGX seemed like a really nice dude with passion for what he was doing.

Overall this game looks interesting and has great promise.

I feel for them. Not in such a significant way, but I lost three years of artwork tonight. Just poof. Gone from me. It hurts in a way, but I feel a fresher start coming; able to give up the past easier. Kudos to these guys for seeing the brighter side and remaining calm. I'll back em up. No Man's Sky is my kind of game to invest into.

Given the tone of their Tweets, they seem to be taking things quite well. Figures this would happen to the most ambitious, intriguing game out there. (Maybe it was all a lie. :-L)

Very tough especially when their core group is basically 4 people (according to the VGX segment).

As a fellow Guildfordian, I can confirm that the River Wey is a bitch and floods out many businesses/homes.

Guildford is a lovely town, but it definitely is prone to flooding.
