Jodie Comer will no longer appear in Ridley Scott's Napoleon Bonaparte movie. The Killing Eve and Free Guy star was attached to play Josephine next to Joaquin Phoenix as Bonaparte in the film, called Kitbag, but Comer had to drop out due to COVID and scheduling reasons.

"Unfortunately, due to COVID and changes of schedule, I don't think I can make Kitbag work right now due to a scheduling conflict," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Stepping in for Comer is Vanessa Kirby, who appeared in The Crown and earned an Academy Award nomination for Pieces of a Woman. She's also known for Hobbs & Shaw and Mission: Impossible - Fallout. Kitbag is being filmed for Apple Studios.

Kitbag is a reference to the line, "There is a general's staff hidden in every soldier's kitbag." According to a previous report, Scott decided to cast Comer in Kitbag after working with her on The Last Duel and coming away very impressed with her performance.

Next up for Comer is the fourth and final season of Killing Eve, which debuts on February 27. In 2021, she starred in Free Guy alongside Ryan Reynolds.
