J. Jonah Jameson Actor JK Simmons Says He Will Appear In More Marvel Movies

One of the best surprises of Spider-Man: Far From Home was the cameo of JK Simmons reprising his role as J. Jonah Jameson from Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy. While there have been rumors that Simmons will return for future appearances as the editor--and now face--of The Daily Bugle, the actor recently revealed more is to come.

Recently on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show, Simmons explained he's coming back to the role he portrayed in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies--which aren't a part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe canon. "We have, assuming that movie theaters reopen and people are back in movie theaters some time in the next…ever, and if not, I guess we'll see it on our TVs at home," Simmons said via The Wrap. "There is one more JJJ appearance in the can, and from what I'm hearing, there is a plan for yet another one."

It's hard to know when we'll see that next Simmons performance, as Marvel's release dates have been shifted around because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Looking at the MCU Phase 4 schedule, it seems unlikely Jameson will pop up in November's Black Widow--as that takes place a few years in the past and in Russia. Eternals is the following movie to release, in February 2021, but considering that's a cosmic movie, Jameson is unlikely to pop up.

The next three movies coming out are Shang-Chi (May 7, 2021), the third Spider-Man movie (November 5, 2021), and Thor: Love and Thunder (February 28, 2022). It is more than certain Simmons will appear as Jameson in the next Spidey movie, but an appearance in Shang-Chi or the fourth Thor movie doesn't seem likely. If anything, Jameson could pop up again in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness (March 25, 2022), primarily because Doctor Strange is from New York City.

What could be even more wild is if Jameson pops up in one of Sony's Spider-Man spin-offs--which don't contain any Spider-Man--movies. Venom 2 arrives in theaters on June 25, 2021, but the more-than-likely scenario will actually be Morbius, as the first trailer of the movie is seemingly connected to events that transpired in Far From Home, like Jameson outing Spider-Man as a "murderer." Morbius has been pushed back to March 19, 2021, so we'll have to wait and see.
