WWE iconic wrestler Jeff Hardy is no longer with the company, news that Fightful broke, which sources have also confirmed to GameSpot. WWE has released Hardy from his contract.

This happened days after reports that Hardy was sent home from the road after Hardy left during the middle of a house show match through the crowd, and footage of the event showed up on Twitter. There have been other wrestlers commenting on the situation already, like Big E.

According to the Fightful, WWE offered Hardy rehab and help, but he did not accept it. Hardy has a history of alcohol and drug abuse. Should the reports turn out to be true, Hardy will hopefully get the help he needs.

Hardy got his start in WWE in the mid-90s as enhancement talent for WWE superstars, but he and his brother Matt came into their own in 1998 as The Hardy Boyz. Hardy was in and out WWE in the 2000s and spent quite some time in TNA. He made his triumphant return at WrestleMania 33 in 2017.

It has been a tough year for WWE wrestlers, as there have been a lot of cuts to the roster. This latest Hardy release is one of the very few releases from WWE in 2021 that wasn't cited as "budget cuts."
