ASC Games' arcade racer will hit store shelves as early as this week.

ASC's Jeff Gordon XS Racing for the PC has begun shipping to retailers nationwide as of this morning, and should start appearing on store shelves by the end of this week. As can be ascertained from the title, XS Racing features Jeff Gordon, three-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion, as the players' instructor, and ultimately, prime competitor.

NASCAR fans expecting a hard-core driving simulator might be taken aback, however. Even though Gordon had a hand in the game's development, XS Racing is an arcade racer - a lighthearted take on NASCAR, with six futuristic cars; ten tracks loaded with jumps, loops, and vertical banks; and other wild additions like on-the-fly pit stops.

"I've had a great time being involved in the game development process as co-producer and co-designer. It's always been one of my dreams to make my own racing game, and now I've gotten that chance with Jeff Gordon XS Racing,'' says Jeff Gordon. "I've taken the speed, action, excitement and competition that stock-car racing gives me and combined it with the best technology and features that a video game has to offer - graphics, sound, and gameplay, and set it in the future. I hope gamers enjoy Jeff Gordon XS Racing as much as I do.''

To promote the game's launch, ASC Games has set up a number of contests, promotions, and giveaways through various partners, including Pepsi, 7-Eleven, Fritos, K-Mart and Toys "R" Us, as well as a national ad campaign that's scheduled to air on MTV starting May 29.
