Jason Momoa To Have DC Dream Come True With James Gunn Now In Control

Jason Momoa is excited about the new DC leadership and gets one of his "DC wishes."

It's only been two weeks since James Gunn and Peter Safran were announced as co-heads of the newly-formed DC Studios and while fan support might be somewhat mixed, the two have vocal supporters: one is David Zaslav, head of Warner Bros. Discovery, and Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa.

Momoa has already filmed the long-awaited Aquaman sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which opens in theaters Christmas 2023, with the latter being the DC Universe's sole billion-dollar grosser at the global box office.

The actor seemed quite excited by the news of Gunn and Safran's promotions and that under this new leadership, he can finally have one of his DC dreams come true.

"I think that with Peter Safran and Mr. Gunn at the helm now at DC, I'm very excited about that," Momoa told Entertainment Tonight while promoting his new Netflix original film Slumberland. "There are a lot of cool things that will be coming up. One of my dreams come true and will be happening under their watch. So, stay tuned!"

While it's uncertain what Momoa was pertaining to, there is a lot still left of the Aquaman mythos that hasn't been touched. There's the inclusion of Tempest, Arthur, Jr., the entirety of the Sword of Atlantis arc, as well as the incident of Arthur losing his hand and it getting replaced by a hook after it was shoved into a piranha pool.

Momoa was announced as Aquaman back in 2014, as part of a series of posters that simply said: "Unite The Seven," which was leading up to the Justice League movie three years later.
