Japan to get silver PS3, cheaper games

a silver Ps3 woulda been nice if had came out before and as a 60 or 80 GB sku, I haven't been interested in the 40 GB one at all!

Cool the dualshock 3 is finnally coming but after using the six axis I don't feel a need anymore

damn, they better drop prices on the US too, and i hope the Dual Shock 3 really costs $52, like in japan when it hits the stores in the US....so i can get it right when it comes out....i dont care about the new PS3 since i already have mine and is the best decision i made...i Got the 80GB and it plays ALL games, from PS1-PS3....unlike the new 40GB that doesnt play PS2 games....at least they should make the new 40GB ones compatible with the PS2 games, so i can buy one silver for my uncle on his b-day

Its really intriguing listening to everyone moaning about getting the raw deal from Sony...AGAIN! Although they are a global company, they are still based in Japan and as such must see to their home markets first! Nintendo behave just the same ... and this is no different to how Xbox treat consumers outside the US!

I hope it comes to North America.

i do hope Sony extends the same benefits it affords Japan here. It is well known that releasing multiple colored consoles has always been popular in Japan and has been met with lackluster enthusiasm here (US), however, with the US adoption level of PS3 low (altho i have one, so this won't convince me) additional colors cold help sales here, as more people are likely on the fence over spending money and perhaps colors MAY influence their decision, increase sales?

dcmdream..I know what you mean about games taking much longer, obviously the quality is much higher. take this is consideration, PS1 was the first counsel to go 3D and do it right and there was no history in SONY for creating games. They came out of no where and took the game world by the balls, why? because they designed PS1, where it was easier to develop games even though they went into a whole new generation of gaming. Thats what made Playstation.

Well, there are still more than a handful of great games on the PS3 right now. Only two great games I can recall on the PS2 in it's first year was GTA3, Twisted Metal Black and MGS2. lol. I could be really wrong on that one, but that's the only three I recall, lol.

There are many issues with all 3 major counsels, the problem really is that WE the consumers are stupid and buy any crap these companies make, this is why sony creates hype about PS3 that really is not impressive, MS creates hype about xbox which has hardware issues, and giving they do have excellent software, but in reality they can do much more, and nintendo hypes wii which lacks %80 of what a modern devise should have. This happens because we are stupid enough to buy these seriously dumbed down hardware.

They're getting software out there, but dont expect there to be as many for the PS2 this soon man. Give 'em time, they're on the right track.

This article is written by GameSpot UK. What most people don't know is the fact Sony introduced confusion by called their budget range "The Best" in Japan, "Greatest Hits" in the US, and "Platinum" in Europe. Rather than sticking with a name that'd be recognized worldwide.

I agree with some of the comments about Sony's somewhat lack of focus on games and more on different consoles. It seems everytime I turn around there is another version of the PS3 being announced. Does the color of the system really matter? Black is fine. Sony, please shift your focus towards helping devs with the system and stop changing it every couple months. I want a PS3, but only when the BIG exclusive titles hit and when I feel confident Sony has settled on the systems hdd size, memory ports, usb ports, BC,not BC, duelshock, no duelshock, game included, no game, movie included, no movie......anything else? oh yeah, color.

Tripwolf well duh. They are based there. Ms does not take care of the UK first or japan either. Plus if you hadn't noticed, there are games for the ps3. That comment is old.

Wow, nice GS. You're really slipping. PS2 had "Greatest Hits" not Platinum. Nevermind that this news is over a week old. We've known at Playstation.com for quite awhile now.
