It Sounds Like Injustice 2 Will Have Plenty of DLC Characters

NetherRealm will be "more aggressive" than in the past when it comes to DLC.

NetherRealm Studios has ramped up the DLC component of each of its games, and Injustice 2 isn't about to buck that trend, according to director Ed Boon.

"One of the things we've been doing, trying to do more and more with every game… is to support it for a longer period of time," he told IGN. "With DLC characters, we've had four with [2011's] Mortal Kombat, six with Injustice, eight with Mortal Kombat X, and with Injustice 2 we plan on continuing that pattern."

He went on to say that, with Injustice 2, NetherRealm "will certainly be more aggressive than we've been in the past."

Beyond that, he didn't offer any sense of how many DLC characters Injustice 2 will see, or if that post-launch support will also come in the form of things like new stages.

The game's announcement earlier in June promised a "massive roster." Returning characters such as Batman and Superman are joined by newcomers like Gorilla Grodd, Atrocitus, and Supergirl.

Aside from new characters, Injustice 2 introduces loot drops and a new gear system that affect characters stats, though Boon insists this won't have an adverse effect on tournaments.
