If you're afraid of clowns, you might want to look away. Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first look at the new It movie's clown, Pennywise. This time, author Stephen King's creepy clown is played by Hemlock Grove star Bill Skarsgard.

Skarsgard talked to EW about the iconic horror character, and how his interpretation of the character will be different from Tim Curry's portrayal in the original 1990 miniseries.

"It's such an extreme character," Skarsgard told EW. "Inhumane. It's beyond even a sociopath, because he's not even human. He's not even a clown. I'm playing just one of the beings it creates.

"Tim Curry’s performance was truly great, but it’s important for me to do something different because of that," he said. "I'll never be able to make a Tim Curry performance as good as Tim Curry.”

Skarsgard also said he had done some research, and he's not sure if people were as afraid of clowns before the original Stephen King novel.

"There's obviously been this thing where people find clowns are unsettling, but nobody explored it the way Stephen King did," he explained.

EW reached out to King himself, who said he found the new design for Pennywise to be "scary."

"But to me they're all scary," King added.

It is directed by Andres Muschietti, who was announced to helm Shadow of the Colossus, an adaptation of Team Ico's classic video game. However, Shadow of the Colossus hasn't moved forward since its announcement.

It opens in theaters on September 8, 2017.
