Isabelle Lets You Snitch About Neighbors In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

"I want this island to be a welcoming place for all!" says Isabelle.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons revolves around a delightful vacation on Tom Nook's island getaway. And to make sure your time there stays delightful, you'll have Isabelle to confide in if any of the villagers get a little too wild. It'll be a way for you to get rid of any inappropriate clothing designs or dialogue villagers might use, but the process was definitely one of the funniest parts of our time playing the game because Isabelle is an international treasure.

We had a chance to play New Horizons through an expanded demo during PAX East 2020 (we've since published our Animal Crossing: New Horizons review-in-progress) and got a quick look at some of its new features. You can check out our tour of the island and some of the facilities on it in our gameplay video below, which includes the snitching process.

When you get the Town Hall on your island, you can find both Tom Nook and Isabelle there, and if you talk to Isabelle, you can change the island's song or flag, and you can report any of the villagers for wearing or saying anything out of line. We're fairly certain it's going to work similarly in New Horizons as it did in the previous game New Leaf; a simple method of preventing villagers from wearing with custom designs adopted from other players' islands that you find problematic. The same goes for if they say any custom phrases or words they got from another player's island.

Isabelle, you're doing amazing, sweetie.

This isn't new for the franchise; however, the funniest part is how delighted Isabelle is about assisting you through the whole ordeal. She's always happy to help, and even suggests that you talk it out with the particular villager before she takes action herself. If you want her to intervene, you then select which villager is causing the problem and whether it's an issue of what they're wearing or saying.

Sometimes you just have to be a snitch, especially when Isabelle takes swift and decisive action. There's so much more to the next entry in Nintendo's wonderful life-sim franchise, so be sure to check out our tour of the new museum in Animal Crossing: Horizons or look at the expansive fashion options at the Able Sisters clothing store.
