Sony looks set to unveil some new hardware following its launch of the PlayStation 4, but is it going to be a release of the PlayStation Vita Slim in Europe and America?

The company has sent an invitation to the media, which reads: "Following the biggest launch in PlayStation history, join us for an introduction to the slimmest."

Sony launched a slimmer model of the PlayStation Vita in Japan last year, which claims to be 20 percent thinner and 15 percent lighter. The refreshed model did remove the original Vita's beautiful 5-inch OLED screen, however, and instead replaced it with an LCD display.

Could we also, perhaps, see the PlayStation Vita TV get a western release date?

There's also the possibility that Sony could be unveiling a new and improved PlayStation 3 slim. The PS3 has seen two sized-down models in its lifetime, although many criticised the last revision for its slide-tray disc loading and a cheaper feel. Could a third redesign be the charm for PS3?

If it's going to be the slimmest, however, it would need to top the feat of mechanical wizardry that saw the creation of the PlayStation 2 Slim, which for our money is still the most impressive display of console reduction surgery in history.

What do you think Sony's announcement could be?
