Is PS2 Onimusha's Akechi Real?

How close does the model of Akechi resemble the Japanese actor Kaneshiro Takeshi? Take a look.

Yesterday, GameSpot News brought you new screenshots of Onimusha for the Sony PlayStation2. The game will be similar to Resident Evil's style of gameplay, but the story takes place during the civil war in Japan.

The main character, Samanosuke Akechi, sets out to find and assassinate Nobunaga Oda. The Japanese actor Kaneshiro Takeshi was used as the primary model for the Samanosuke character. Motion capture and voice dubbing was done for the PlayStation version, but in the PlayStation2 version, Capcom took the modeling process a step further by making the game's main character an exact replica of the actor himself. Take a look at the picture above and see if you're not convinced.

Onimusha is set for a release in summer 2000. Expect much more coverage on the game in the near future.
