Sammy Studios has announced its upcoming Xbox Live-enabled online fighting game Iron Phoenix. The game, Sammy's first for the Xbox console, is currently in development at InterServ International, and it will draw inspiration from classical Chinese kung fu mythos.

Iron Phoenix will feature online play support for up to 16 players simultaneously. The game will let players compete in strategic, team-based battles while wielding a variety of melee weapons. The fighting will take place in open environments suitable to the kung fu theme. The multiplayer modes will resemble those found in traditional online shooters, and the game will also have a mission-based, offline single-player mode.

Iron Phoenix is currently scheduled to ship in time for the Christmas season this year. For more information on the game, consult our exclusive first-look story and visit the media page for an exclusive interview containing the first footage of the game in action.
