Irimajiri to Resign; Okawa to Step in
CSK chairman Okawa replaces Irimajiri for the position of Sega of Japan president.
GameSpot News has received word that Shoichiro Irimajiri will resign as president of Sega of Japan. The move is partially based on Irimajiri's decision to take full responsibility of Sega's deficit for three straight years. Despite the strong sales of the Dreamcast console in North America, the release of the Sony PlayStation 2 has further hindered sales of Sega's console in Japan. CSK chairman Isao Okawa will become the new president, while Irimajiri will become vice chairman of the company. Although Okawa takes the helm in the CSK group, it is not yet known whether he will continue as chairman of CSK.
