Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days was released today in North America, and its European launch is set to follow on August 20. Shortly thereafter, developer Io Interactive will begin its first sweep of downloadable content for the title, announcing today that three DLC packs will be available August 31. The packs--titled Multiplayer Mask Pack, Alliance Weapon Pack, and Doggie Bag Pack--will extend the game's multiplayer modes by introducing more "tools of the trade" and heist locations.

Dog Days is the third-person shooter follow-up to 2007's Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. In the new game, the titular psychopath and former mercenary venture into the seedy Shanghai underworld for a 48-hour stretch. The multiplayer expands on the original game's treachery-enabling Fragile Alliance mode with Undercover Cop and Cops vs. Robbers modes, as well as an offline Arcade variation of Fragile Alliance, as outlined in GameSpot's recent preview.

Details on the DLC packs are scarce so far, but the multiplayer offering that comes on the disc features six maps, each featuring scenarios inspired by real-life heists. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
