Brian Fargo, founder and CEO of Irvine, California-based game publisher Interplay Entertainment, has resigned from the company, according to a report on OCRegister.com.

In August of last year Titus Interactive acquired majority control of Interplay and later assumed control of board of directors as part of negotiations between the companies. Tensions between Fargo and Titus reportedly contributed to Fargo's resignation.

Interplay declined to comment on the situation, but said a new CEO would be appointed within days. Titus declined to comment on the situation.
