Now Playing: Injustice 2 Video Review

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced Injustice 2: Legendary Edition, a new version of its superhero fighting game featuring the main game and all the downloadable content released since its original launch in May 2017.

Injustice 2: Legendary Edition will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC from March 27 and, along with the core roster, will have DLC characters Darkseid, Red Hood, Starfire, Sub-Zero, Black Manta, Raiden, Hellboy, Atom, Enchantress, and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles playable from the outset.

Premiere Skins that change Super Girl, Green Lantern, Flash, Cyborg, and Raiden into Power Girl, John Stewart Green Lantern, Reverse-Flash, Grid, and Black Lightning respectively, will also be part of the package.

With the launch of the Legendary Edition there will also be a number of enhancements to Injustice 2, including the introduction of an expanded tutorial called the "Learn Hub," new gear for all characters, a raised level cap of 30, and a new augment slot that unlocks at level 30.

A Day 1 Edition of Injustice 2: Legendary Edition will be available to pre-order soon. It contains a collectible coin, a "comic exclusive download steel card," 11, 000 Source Crystals to use in-game, and a steel case. GameSpot has contacted Warner Bros. to confirm how much the Legendary Edition will cost.

In GameSpot's Injustice 2 review Peter Brown awarded it a 9/10. "With AI battles, online and local versus matches, the diverse and ever-changing Multiverse, and an impressive story mode, Injustice 2 offers numerous ways of engaging with its characters and testing your abilities without feeling repetitive," he said.

"NetherRealm has delivered a fighting game that can be enjoyed by new players and pros alike in ways that go beyond pure competition. It's a bar that every fighting game should meet, but one that has up until now seemed out of reach."

Yea, remember Injustice 1 Ultimate NOT having all of the DLC included :-\ i hope they don't pull that on us, AGAIN, somehow...

Can anyone confirm ALL of the DLC is REALLY included this time please ??

@blitxxx1981: Hell I'm still upset that Mortal Kombat XL physical disc DOES NOT have all the SKINS on disc.

They going to be making a season 2 pass? It would be nice to see more characters. :)

I bought it recently, it was mostly for the campaign. It ended up being average overall, some parts are likable but generally-speaking it was a bit dull, and predictable. The campaign for the first Injustice was much better. I'd give Injustice 2's campaign a 6/10, and the first one's an 8/10.

A similar thing happened with Mortal Kombat X, where its campaign was significantly less engaging than Mortal Kombat 9's, even though of course the graphics for X were much better (same with Injustice 2's being a considerable update from the first). I mean I do like that they bother with campaigns in their fighting games, but so far they aren't improvements for the sequels. In my opinion, the best campaign they made so far was for MK9 (but I'm biased for MK, since I really like the lore behind that series).

I'm curious to see what the campaign for MK11 will be like but honestly I'm not holding my breath.

Assuming the new content is a free patch (It doesn't seem substantial enough for anything else but you never know) this is just a physical release for the oft-discounted Ultimate Edition. Good to have the option, anyway.

DLC = More crap for fools to buy in a game.

I am one of those fools. Because I only have this game and NHL 18.

And this is why you don't buy games at launch anymore. Just way for something like this that packs all the DLC in for a much lower price.

@lonesamurai1: Supergirl is superb in this game, I would buy the game just for her. It actually made me start watching the show!

Surprised but glad it's basically the same thing as the ultimate edition

nice! now that the wait is over, i can finally get my hands on this badass looking fighting game. i did the same with MK XL ;)

@hugoadan: I wish I did that, now I am stuck unable to upgrade without spending a fortune.

@vigariox: Unable in what sense?

Avatar image for vigariox

@PSYCHOV3N0M: As in I have to spend almost as much as I spent on the standard edition to upgrade to ultimate. Bought the game on sale for about $42 and have to pay $39.99 to upgrade. So yeah...

Too late for PC release, either way I'm passing :)

Always, ALWAYS wait with Warner Bros Interactive. Price drops and "complete editions" (for cheaper) within a year or so.

Game was fun for a few hours, but it's just WAY too repetitive.

@todddow: Maybe you just don't like fighting games?

Avatar image for sixsixtrample

@todddow: Does that describe the genre then? Because Injustice 2 has more replayability from the multiverse than any other fighting game I know of; not even mentioning PvP

@sixsixtrample: There are games with 0 content that you can play for hours and hours. And then there are games with a million feathers and flags to collect, and you get bored in minutes

Avatar image for banhammer

@sixsixtrample: yes, it does describe the genre....these games are only fun for a few hours max, even when feeling nostalgic itll only last for 1 or 2 fights lol

I wonder if the enhancements will be available to those who already own the game.

No Batgirl, no buy. Thanks but no thanks, NetherRealm. See you for Injustice 3 with fingers crossed.

Nnnot really excited for that level cap increase. It's grindy enough getting like 40 characters to level 20.

I'll be getting this for sure. Oddly enough, I've been waiting for THIS version since the original was announced. It's not even worth buying games at launch anymore.

Avatar image for gamingdevil800

@Brettsky128: But what if they do a FFXV and release more DLC after the complete edition with all the DLC (FFXV Royal Edition)... Play it safe wear protection and wait another year.

Avatar image for Brettsky128
Brettsky128

@gamingdevil800: FFXV is "complete edition" gone wrong. They announced a new season pass that's NOT included with the complete edition, AND the included DLC is not on the disc but is just a download code. Most other companies get it right, with the DLC included on the disc, and actually having be complete.

I'm still waiting for a real complete edition of FFXV. I still haven't played it.

Avatar image for sixsixtrample

@Brettsky128: FFXV is Final Fantasy gone wrong.

Avatar image for Elranzer

@gamingdevil800: Wait for Final Fantasy XV: Game of the Year Edition: Game of the Year Edition

Avatar image for Xristophoros

@gamingdevil800: yea, at the rate s-e is going, there will be a second special edition for ff xv early next year that includes all the dlc from 2018 lol... i don't think i have ever seen a single player game release two years worth of season passes -- a lot of the content being integral to the story. just goes to show how half baked the original release was. with such a long development cycle, though, they had no choice but to get it out when they did. i understand that from a business perspective.

Avatar image for gamingdevil800
gamingdevil800

@Xristophoros: If the royal edition upgrade is like £10 or less I'll probably get it since I would like to experience the game with all the updates but if it's 20 which they incorrectly advertised I'll wait till next year lol.

Avatar image for Xristophoros
Xristophoros

i still don't understand why so many people purchase games at launch. the only explanation is: a; they have lots of money to spare and they don't mind paying close to $100 for a game and all of its dlc or b; they lack the will power to wait 6 months to a year for the complete edition at a more reasonable price.

Avatar image for blitxxx1981
blitxxx1981

@Xristophoros: well, the only games I always pre-order I do so I can play them while they're still "active" (which means next year when the new one comes) like BF, Forza (Horizons & MS), & now COD (since MWR)

Luckily COD MWR & WWII both support good bots, Forza's have total replay-ability, but sadly Battlefield's get empty when the next one comes and they don't do bot support for them at all so they're a waste of space to have installed... What's sad is DICE used to put bot support in all of the BF's >:-(

Avatar image for Attitude2000

@Xristophoros: I don't buy DLC usually. Not taking a stance or anything, I just don't feel slighted without it.

Avatar image for PrpleTrtleBuBum
PrpleTrtleBuBum

@Xristophoros: The way I think is that if I can wait 6 months for it, then I can survive without it forever.

There are games I buy at launch for full price, I play them immediately.
Then there are games I pick up from some sale, 90% I haven't even started yet and probably never will.

Most of hype around this game has gone also. There aren't a million people rushing in and going "Ooh!" in online anymore

When I was kid it was different because I wanted a million games and it was better to buy 50 cheap games than 10 fully priced ones. But now $70 maybe once or twice a year is nothing. The other launched games are practically irrelevant

Avatar image for gamingdevil800
gamingdevil800

@Xristophoros: Cause I wouldn't have the time to play them if I started building up a backlog of games I'm waiting for discounts on. I was planning on getting The Last Guardian a few months after it launched but didn't have the time to play now it's two years since it came out and I still haven't got it lol.
