Infamous Dev's New PS4 Game Revealed, Titled Ghost Of Tsushima

Who is the Ghost of Tsushima? Check out the trailer and decide for yourself.

Since Infamous: First Light released in 2014, we've been in the dark as to what developer Sucker Punch has been working on. Now, at Paris Games Week, the company has revealed its new game. It's called Ghost of Tsushima, and it's coming to PS4.

In addition, Sony has released a new trailer for the game; take a look at the video above. Other than it being open-world, little is known about the game's premise or how it'll play, but it appears to take place during the Mongol invasions of Japan and it details the exploits of a lone Samurai turned vengeful assassin.

Sucker Punch has already released two games for PS4: the aforementioned Infamous: First Light and the related Infamous: Second Son. Ghost of Tsushima is its first new IP in eight years. Elsewhere at Sony's media briefing, Sony revealed Detroit: Become Human's release window and showed off a new The Last of Us: Part II trailer. I don't know how to feel about Americans trying to make a game set in Japan. I hope it turns out well and I really hope they bring in and army of Japanese consultants to help with the direction and feel of the game.

@dragonsama: Cant help but agree, Japanese games are clearly more authentic & (usually are better games period) if done by a Japanese team. Or at least a game set in Japan or Asia for that matter.

It looks perfect as always by Sucker Punch, BUT lets hope they don't implement the repetitive missions like in the infamous series.

SO, did anyone else get that Tenchu vibe from this video. Alot of ppl may not have ever heard of the stealthy espionage based action game, but old schoolers will know what Im talking about. If its a Tenchu-style game made accordingly to todays technological demands, its certainly a game to watch. So far, color me intrigued. Oh and so glad Sucker Punch realized the Infamous series is a dead end and that working on a new IP would be a wise decision!!

@Jimbowesker: I agree it has that Tenchu-style vibe which I love!! It's got a touch of Onimusha don't you think?

Capcom please give Onimusha remaster I'll pay £100 for all 3 of them. I don't want a new Onimusha because they will ruin it.

@Uncle_Rell: Yeah, I def see the Onimusha inspired elements at play here as well. I have been begging for this from Capcom for years now!! I bet they are either debating on remastering or (discussing it) or are already underway with production for it cuz this is a most wanted game from fans. I loved the series as well, and I keep seeing ppl mention the series so inevitably, Capcom has gotta be urging to fill all these fans requests. I would buy whatever they throw my way with the Onimusha name on it.

OMG my wallet. Day fucking one right here. I've been waiting for a game like this my whole life. Ever since I had the idea of Mitsurugi having his own stand alone game. And SONY is behind this so I know it won't be canceled. Just take my money already ****.

Very excited to see a new IP set in the less known history of Japan. The Mongolian invasion was way before the more popular Sengoku period, and birthed the infamous term "Kamikaze". I just hope they do it justice.

Ummm idk what to think... I need to see more.

This is so not what I expected from Sucker Punch :o

I really hope they add a unique twist to the story and/or the gameplay.

@meedokicky: If that unique twist is supernatural stuff, then my interest in this title will disappear. It really would be nice to just once have a historically authentic game set in Japan, without supernatural things or giant monsters..

@joupena: Supernatural, not supernatural, honestly I don't care. It's an open world Samurai game and that's enough for me to dive in.

Feudal Japan is where I always wanted Assassin's Creed to take me, I wanted Assassin's Creed to deliver, and I'm an Infamous fan so I've got confidence in the developer. Can't wait to see more of this game!

1. Looks like a NIOH-type (souls) game.

2. Sales will be low - the themes, the genre, the name = all "niche".

3. Was anticipating Sucker Punch's new project and... kinda disappointed. It's pretty original, but I'm not confident they can make a good game out of all this.

@Ripper_TV: Where do you people go every time you are proven wrong? You just come back to spread some more BS over a game's life cycle based on a single trailer.

They should have used Japanese in the dialogue and sub it in English. By the context of the trailer, I would say this game happens during the Russian-Japanese war. So why the heck would a Russian speaking to a Japanese using English?

@solid_snake1461: For the same reason english is used in all games/movies, more people understand it without having to read subtitles. For example, the new Assassin's Creed should've been made in Coptic, a dead language that was used in Egypt before Arabic. Or Wolfenstein should've been made in Polish/German. I agree that it would add to the realism, but it would also make it more difficult as you would have to divert your attention from the action in order to read the subtitles.

@dev-raid1: well, seem like a little mistake there. But last time I check, 13th century Mongolians aren’t too keen on speaking English either. Also, didn’t he say that they learnt their language (Japanese)? The more reason to not speak English.

Just take Yakuza Zero for example. Audio in Japanese and sub in English. Save cost for not having to redo to voice over, stay true to the setting of the game. And in the end still very well received.

@solid_snake1461: having them speak japanese would kill sales, that would instantly make it niche....i wouldnt buy it if it had subtitles i had to read to understand, that takes away from the power of the cutscenes. in all honesty why would anybody want it in japanese if they werent japanese? authenticity? lol the world they built makes it authentic not the voiceover.

@solid_snake1461: my guess is they want to appeal to as many people as possible. I think a lot of English speakers would be automatically turned off from the game if dialogue was in Japanese and subs are in English.

It's similar to foreign films. There are great foreign films that never reach large audiences because a lot of people aren't interested in watching a movie with English subtitles.
