Codemasters has today released new information on IndyCar Series, its officially licensed open-wheel racing game. Currently in development at Brain in a Jar, IndyCar Series will be the only racing game to feature up-to-date statistics on all the sport's drivers and teams, as well as all 15 races of the IndyCar Series season, including the Indy 500.

In IndyCar Series, you'll be racing in a field of up to 33 cars at any one time and will be required to perform daring and realistic overtaking maneuvers if you're to claim first place. Fortunately, renowned Indy racing driver Eddie Cheever Jr. will be available via the game's masterclass mode to teach you all the skills you'll need to become a champion.

As your skills improve and you start to win races, you'll be able to attempt challenges in the game's trading-card album mode. For completing challenges and achieving career goals, you'll earn IndyCar Series cards, some of which will unlock bonus content or will allow access to additional options, such as the ability to create your own drivers, teams, and liveries.

IndyCar Series is currently scheduled for release in June. For more information, check out our previous coverage of the game.
