Indiana Jones 5 is reportedly due to begin filming in the UK next week, according to Deadline. Given the recent and steady stream of casting announcements for the highly-anticipated sequel, which hasn't yet revealed its official title, it makes sense that the production is progressing smoothly.

There's still a ways to go before the film will be out. Currently, Indiana Jones 5 is due in theaters on July 29, 2022. In the meantime, actor Mads Mikkelsen--who was recently announced as joining the cast--shared what is about the only solid detail about the film so far--after reading the finished script, said "it was everything I wished it to be." Mikkelsen also indicated that his character, which he had some freedom in shaping and developing, will both provide comic relief off Indy but also at times be the "straight man." Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renee Wilson, and Thomas Kretschmann will also co-star.

The only other thing known about the upcoming film is that Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge will play the female lead opposite Harrison Ford. Ford, 78, of course, will return to play the iconic archaeologist. This new entry will not be a reboot or reimagining--Indy 5 will function as a direct sequel to 2008's polarizing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Simon Emanuel will serve as producers on the film. Like Spielberg and Ford, composer John Williams will be returning to score the film--continuing a musical legacy that began 40 years ago with Raiders of the Lost Ark, if you were looking for a reason to feel old.
