Image Comics Leads This Year's Eisner Award Nominees

With 17 nominations and 11 more shared across other categories, Image Comics has a big lead at this year's annual Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards

Comments

This year's nominees for the Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards have been revealed, with publishers Image Comics and Fantagraphics having the highest number of nominations between them. Image holds 17 nominations and shares 11 of its other industry nods, while Fantagraphics has clocked 18 nominations in total.

Industry giants such as DC Comics and Marvel had a smaller number of nominations in comparison with titles such as Far Sector, Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen, Black Widow, Daredevil, and X-Men earning a spot on the nominee's list.

In terms of individual comic books, Decorum and The Department of Truth have secured four nominations each, while artists such as Marco Chechetto, Jorge Corona, and Sanford Greene have been nominated for their work on Daredevil, Middlewest, and Bitter Root respectively.

This year's judging panel consists of comics retailer Marco Davanzo, Comic-Con Board member Shelley Fruchey, librarian Pamela Jackson, publisher Keithan Jones, educator Alonso Nunez, and comic book historian Jim Thompson.

You can see the full list of nominees on the official Eisner website, and a highlighted selection below of the biggest awards for this, where critically-acclaimed comic books such as Gideon Falls, Daredevil, will be voted on. The results of the voting will be announced in July in a virtual ceremony as part of Comic-Con@Home.
