id Moves to New Offices

The id staff announces that steps are being taken to make sure the Quake III master server doesn't go down.

A series of posts from the id Software staff have revealed that the company is moving its offices this weekend, and its servers may experience some downtime. The company's master and authentication servers are used to track CD keys and private servers. The server downtime may complicate connecting to private Quake III game servers, but steps are being taken to avoid such complications.

Christian Antkow, an id level designer on systems duty, said, "I apologize for any disruption that you may experience with connecting to Quake III servers over the next few days. This situation is entirely out of our hands, and I'm going to try my best to make this as painless as possible for you."

The company will be leaving its seven-year-old, iconic "Black Cube" headquarters near Dallas, Texas for nearby offices.
