Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity arrives on Nintendo Switch later this month, but Switch owners have a chance to sample the game ahead of its release. Nintendo closed out its most recent Nintendo Direct Mini presentation by announcing that a Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity demo is now available to download from the Switch eShop.

The demo lets you play through the entire first chapter of the game, giving you a taste of what to expect from the Dynasty Warriors-style adventure. What's more, your save data will carry over to the full release once it's available, letting you pick up when you left off after the game officially launches.

Now Playing: First 21 Minutes of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Gameplay

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, set during the Great Calamity that occurred 100 years before the Switch launch title. Like the previous Hyrule Warriors, it's developed by Koei Tecmo and features Dynasty Warriors-style hack-and-slash gameplay mixed with Zelda elements.

In addition to Link, players will be able to control a handful of other characters in Age of Calamity, including Princess Zelda, young Impa, and the four Champions of Hyrule: Revali, Daruk, Urbosa, and Mipha. A few other familiar characters will make appearances during the game. Nintendo has released trailers giving us a glimpse at Koroks, the Sheikah inventors Robbie and Purah, and the Yiga Clan.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity launches for Switch on November 20. Players who have save data for Breath of the Wild on their systems will receive an extra bonus when they start the game up: the Training Sword. You can learn more in our Age of Calamity preorder guide. Nintendo has also announced that it's re-releasing the four Breath of the Wild Champions Amiibo alongside the game next month.

That wasn't the only news to come out of the Nintendo Direct Mini. We also learned that Bravely Default II has been pushed back to February 2021, and Control and Hitman 3 are coming to Switch via cloud streaming.
