Books of Blood is a new horror anthology film that's set to hit Hulu next month. The movie is based on the stories of Hellraiser creator Clive Barker, and the first trailer has now been released.

Books of Blood features three spooky tales, and we get a look at all of them in the trailer. In the first, a psychologist is studying a man able to speak to the dead, who seemingly communicate by writing on walls in blood. The second story focuses on a girl who is hypersensitive to sound and starts seeing creepy bugs everywhere, while the third features a pair of hitmen hunting for a mysterious book. Barker is one of the most acclaimed horror writers of the past few decades, and the movie looks like suitably scary fare for Halloween. Check the trailer out below.

The cast for Books of Blood includes Anna Friel (The Girlfriend Experience), Britt Robertson (Under the Dome), Yul Vazquez (Russian Doll), and Freda Foh Shen (Ad Astra). The film is co-produced by Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane, and is directed by Brannon Braga, who previously helmed several episodes of McFarlane's sci-fi show The Orville. It premieres on Hulu on October 7.

In related news, the upcoming movie Candyman, which is based on Barker's classic story, has been delayed once more, and will now be released in 2021. The film is directed by Nia Da Costa and produced by Jordan Peele, and is a sequel to the 1992 movie adaptation.

Hulu isn't the only company releasing new anthology horror this October. Blumhouse Productions, who made movies such The Purge, Get Out, and the most recent Halloween, have produced a new film series titled Welcome to the Blumhouse. The first four movies will screen on Amazon next month, with more to follow in 2021.
