Still need a key for the upcoming Rainbow Six Siege closed beta? There is now an easy way to get one.

Ubisoft has launched an interactive website called "Art of Siege," where you can complete a series of "field training" exercises to score a beta key. Basically, the website teaches you how to attack and defend the game's maps. Complete each part of the training and you'll be rewarded with a beta key.

The Rainbow Six Siege closed beta officially begins on September 24 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. You can also guarantee yourself a spot in the beta by preordering the game.

The full game, meanwhile, is slated to launch on December 1. This is slightly later than previously expected, as the game was originally due to launch on October 13 before its delay last month.

Ubisoft has high hopes for Rainbow Six Siege, as the publisher said back in May that the game has the potential to become the company's best-selling FPS ever, surpassing Far Cry 4. At the time, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the game's replayability "will be key to the game's success."

Anyone looking for something more like an old school Rainbow Six experience, check this out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQJTbQ97RPs

So yes it's from the same people that made Takedown Red Sabre which was a mess. However they are passionate about old school tactical shooters and I think this time they are going to avoid a lot of the problems they had with Takedown. It's a bit sci-fi, but doesn't look too far out there. One nice thing they appear to be going for a full RB6 style planning phase, and even might have a phase before that for surveillance.

I stopped getting excited for this when I realized it's all CQC (Close Wuarters Combat). That will get old really quick.

The site is broken. Two of the missions get to a point where you can't continue; the screen darkens, but no choices appear.

Everything I've see it just looks like another dumbed down console shooter to me. I want to go back to the days of Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield, now that was an amazing and complex online shooter. 8 v 8, one or two shots and you're dead, you had lots of gadets to find people or lay traps etc etc and it had such a hardcore community. It was so brutal and hardcore, I loved it and played it for so many years before the community died due to the lack of Ubisoft support... though to be fair they did patch it for years.

It was the days of custom maps and SDKs, where you'd have dedicated servers and you'd connect to a server and automatically download a custom map. Custom maps are always so much better than what the developers do because modders are always way more creative and take risks.

FPS gaming was so much better on PC before consoles ruined it all with shitty lobbies and DLC. You always find yourself sitting in a lobby more often than you play the game, they you're always playing with different people, it'll probably be a P2P lagfest :\ With dedicated servers you used to have server communities, you'd get to know people and know you'll have the same game every night, the game you enjoy to play, with lobbies once night might suck, the other might be amazing... too inconsistent.

It you're going to do matchmaking, for the love of god copy CS:GO, there are no lobbies, they've been replaced with warmup rounds or maybe a joke knife only round, SO MUCH BETTER!

@Slannmage:

Enjoy your PC nostalgia while you can. As much as consoles have advanced, it just doesn't pay to spend 6 times more on a platform that barely looks better and still gets left out of the Triple A titles. Not to mention your buggy/crashed games (Batman:AK). For most people, consoles look every bit as good as current PC titles. So you can drop that "dumbed down/grade" BS. Next gen consoles after this will decimate the PC gaming industry.

@moldyspud:

Ignorant? Lol well let's do the math shall we? You can buy a current gen console for $350-$450. So let's say $400 to be fair.

$400 multiplied by 6 equals $2,400. (And that's not even including upgrades later.) That's about what it costs to build a decent gaming rig if you're going to do it right. Sh*t, a decent graphics card alone will run you $400-$600.

So unless this suddenly became the Twilight Zone and math literally went out the window, I'd say it's you who is ignorant. Nice try tho.

@lithus: Actually, you're extremely wrong and ignorant.

Yeah you can buy a current gen console which is already far behind PC by a landslide, for about 400$, let's not forget the cost of your TV and the cost of the game which are all highly priced. 60$ for far too long and probably 6 times the price of hundreds of steam games.

Say you got a console, that's 400$ lucky if it's 1080p on most games. That doesn't include a game so your console is worthless out the box. Your 40" tv is probably 400$ that's about 800$ my friend without a game. Unless there are some free to play games I don't know about on console.

You can build a PC for about 500$ plus a monitor for about 120$ or buy a steam machine 550$ and use the same TV and guaranteed 1080p resolution on medium settings. Which surpasses ps4 and xbox one.

Not to mention, steam games can cost anywhere from 25cents to 60$ along with numerous sales. For 60$ you could have 100 games and no I am not exaggerating. PS4 and Xbone do not even have 100 games combined. Not to mention the numerous free to play games available. Then you are not limtied to the console, you're able to use the PC as well to really surf the internet or run your documents or programs.

Let us not forget also that the consoles can not be upgraded. Therefore you will never be able to get anything more out of it besides exclusives. But who wants to play Uncharted 77 or Halo 58?

Come to the PC side where games are cheap and in the thousands, you can upgrade, get more use out of it, and yes you can play on your TV with a controller while sitting on the couch getting fat like a nerd. Also, you'll be able to read signs in the games instead of having to depend on the developers to subtitle it.

@lithus: I spent £500 making my PC in 2010, I made one upgrade which was the GPU and it cost £200 in 2014 and it maxes everything out at a smooth above 60 and on my 1080p monitor, but it can go higher.

Meanwhile you spend £320-400 on a console today, have to pay £40 a year to be able to play online and have basic things like cloud storage which is free on Steam. So that's an extra £200 over the 5 years already and console games are always way more expensive on the digital store and stay expensive. I buy games on Steam that are only £10 that are still £60 on the consoles, so you can add about an extra £1000 on games alone.

So yeah, consoles ain't cheap and they offer an inferior experience.

@Slannmage:

built a £500 and spent another 200? That's about $1,100 USD. That's still 3 times more expensive than a console. And sorry mate, no way you're playing on a 5 year old £500 machine at high settings.

And warranties man? Seriously? Your PC has warranties too genius. Wanna talk about expense? How about you can't trade in PC games? I can trade my console games in to off-set the cost. Your games are all digital. You're stuck with it.

Monthly MMO subs. So far, consoles get them free. I've had my 360 for nine years mate...your PC will be in a landfill in nine years. My 360 will probably still work. And let's talk about upgrades. My 360 and PS3 didn't need any. My X1 and PS4 will be the same. They will play every game ever released for them. You can't say that.

And inferior? Have you even bothered to see what's out now? Bloodborne on the PS4, Gears of War 4 on the X1...lol you're missin out man. You let your pride and empty Walker blind you.

@Slannmage: Maybe I should also mention how if your console dies after the years warranty is out, enjoy paying either an extra £300 or £100+ for repair while waiting forever to get it back. My Xbox One went faulty after warranty, I sold and and decided not to bother with another, my PS4 just got ever louder before I sold that and like everyone I had RROD and YLOD from the previous generation.

Meanwhile I've never had anything fail on my PC besides a HDD dying from old age in the 15 years I've been building them. If something did die, it's very easy to replace it yourself...
