At the conclusion of its celebratory 20th anniversary presentation, Xbox revealed that Halo Infinite's multiplayer mode would be launching early. In fact, it launched right away, several weeks before the full game's December 8 date. If you're looking to get into a few matches and start blasting Spartans, here's how to download the Halo Infinite multiplayer mode and get playing Slayer.

How To Download Halo Infinite Multiplayer

Xbox consoles

Please note that you might have issues triggering the full Halo Infinite download. Typically with a pre-release Game Pass title, you only download a small placeholder file, and in our experience this is what you're likely to receive on Xbox. You need to first ensure you download the full game, which can be done by following the instructions below.

Halo Infinite is one game, but there are actually multiple titles split up on the Microsoft Store. Search for Halo Infinite in the store if you've preordered the game, and after clicking "Get," the multiplayer component will begin installing. This applies to both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

You can also find it via Game Pass. In the Xbox Game Pass app, search for Halo Infinite and choose to install the game. At this point, the multiplayer component will download.

PC

If using the Xbox app on PC, search for the game from within the app and select the multiplayer component, then select Get (Free) when prompted. Select Get on the next window and it will automatically install to your PC.

For Steam, all you need to do is search for the game on the store and select Play Game. it will then be installable on your system, and you can start it once the download is done. The download for Steam is roughly 24GB.
