Honedge announced for Pokemon X and Y
Players of the latest entry in the Pokemon series will be able to recruit a possessed sword.
The Pokemon Company has announced a new Ghost and Steel type Pokemon, Honedge, for upcoming handheld RPG Pokemon X and Y.
The new Pokemon was debuted by Game Freak director Junichi Masuda during the Japan Expo in Paris.
Honedge is a spirit that has possessed a sword, with a blue cloth attached to its hilt able to drain energy. The Pokemon can learn the attack Swords Dance, a Normal-type move that boosts a user's' Attack stat. The effect can be stacked multiple times.
Pokemon X and Y takes the series to the new Kalos region, and is the first Pokemon game to include a full 3D world and 3D battles. The game will be released for 3DS in October 2013.
Honedge joins new legendary Pokemon Xerneas and Yveltal in Pokemon X and Y, alongside the 17 previously announced roster of regular Pokemon: Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Sylveon, Pancham, Fletchling, Talonflame, Gogoat, Helioptile, Scatterbug, Spewpa, Vivillon, Noivern, Clauncher, Skrelp, Litleo, and Flabebe.
