Hobbit Director Peter Jackson Teases Doctor Who Collaboration

"I'm looking for a director."

After finally completing the mammoth undertaking of the Hobbit movies, fans have been wondering what Peter Jackson would turn his hand to next. The director may have provided the answer with a new video posted on his Facebook page, that sees the filmmaker relaxing at home with his daughter--and a couple of unexpected guests. Check it out below:

Doctor Who showrunner Stephen Moffat had previously spoken about his interest in getting Jackson involved with the show. In an interview with the Metro newspaper last month, he made some of the comments this clip alludes to.

"He's a genuine big old Doctor Who fan. He's mentioned it, and then we email him and he doesn't reply," Moffat said. "I think his plan is we all go to New Zealand and spend six months making it and our plan is he comes to Cardiff and makes it in 12 days. There's that disparity.

"I'm not quite sure what a movie director, that can do anything he likes, gets out of our budget and our schedule. The skill set required is pretending you're Peter Jackson without a budget."

While this video is not official confirmation that Jackson will be directing any episodes of Doctor Who, it does suggest that he will have some involvement with the show in the future.

Last month, Jackson revealed that the production on The Hobbit had been a far-from-easy one, and that at times he was highly unprepared for the shoot. “You're going on to a set and you're winging it, you've got these massively complicated scenes, no storyboards and you're making it up there and then on the spot," he revealed during a making-of featurette on the DVD for The Battle of Five Armies.

"I spent most of The Hobbit feeling like I was not on top of it. Even from a script point of view Fran [Walsh], Philippa [Boyens] and I hadn't got the entire scripts written to our satisfaction so that was a very high pressure situation."
