HB Studios is working on a golf simulator called The Golf Club with a deep and complex course editor. You can change almost everything about each hole, from its elevation to the wildlife that wanders around it. It has so many features and is so customizable, in fact, that a real-world golf course design firm has just partnered with the developer to model actual golf courses in the game before construction starts.
Greg Norman Golf Course Design is using the game to "demonstrate [its] design concepts to [its] clients," the developer explains. HB Studios goes on to describe how the editor provides a quick, accessible way to make design changes on the fly.
In addition, the design group will provide suggestions for improvements and changes to the game. As development continues, Greg Norman and his company will help HB Studios even further expand the game's editor.
The Golf Club is due out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One some time this summer, but it is already available on Steam Early Access. If you don't want to build courses, the game features procedurally generated courses for you to play through.
